What is it? Chlorella is a singe-celled fresh-water, microscopic green algae, which provides a very well balanced package of essential nutrients. Along with its rich stores of complete protein. Chlorella also provides essential fatty acids, carbohydrates, minerals, vitamins, enzymes, chlorophyll, RNA/DNA, antioxidants, special fiber and its own unique Chlorella Growth Factor (CGF).
Working to maintain bodily health, prevent disease, and enhance recuperation, Chlorella can be thought of as a complete health supplement. It is truly the ultimate green food. Chlorella is so complete that we could survive on it alone for an extended period of time, and in fact, NASA researchers have investigated this very possibility for astronauts in space travel.
Chlorella is a single celled algae that some scientists believe may be among the Earth's oldest living organisms, but it was only in the 1960's that Japanese scientists began to study chlorella as a tool of good health. Natural health enthusiasts know chlorella well as a detoxifier, immune stimulator, and excellent source of general nutrition. This Chlorella has a cracked outer cell wall which is broken by a high impact cryogenic jet-spray process that pulverizes the algae wall for enhanced digestability. It is grown in outdoor secluded ponds in one of Japan's two primary reef areas and is fully protected from industrial pollutants.
As a medicine, chlorella is used for preventing cancer, reducing radiation treatment side effects, stimulating the immune system, improving response to flu vaccine, increasing white blood cell counts (especially in people with HIV infection or cancer), preventing colds, protecting the body against toxic metals such as lead and mercury, and slowing the aging process.
Chlorella is also used to increase “good” bacteria in the intestine in order to improve digestion; and to help treat ulcers, colitis, Crohn's disease, and diverticulosis.
Some people also use chlorella for the prevention of stress-related ulcers; treatment of constipation, bad breath, and hypertension; as an antioxidant; to reduce cholesterol; to increase energy; to detoxify the body; and as a source of magnesium to promote mental health, relieve premenstrual syndrome (PMS), and reduce asthma attacks. It is also used for fibromyalgia.
Chlorella is applied to the skin for treating skin ulcers, rashes caused by radiation treatment, and a sexually transmitted disease called trichomoniasis.

No group of people benefits more from chlorella than women with fibromyalgia. A study at the Medical College of Virginia found that taking 10 grams (3 tablespoons) of chlorella a day for two months substantially reduced pain, although it did not eliminate it. Other studies at the same medical school have found that chlorella reduces symptoms of ulcerative colitis and hypertension, health problems frequently occurring in women who have fibromyalgia. In one study, daily supplementation with chlorella was seen to reduce high blood pressure, lower serum cholesterol levels, accelerate wound healing and enhance immune functions. Precautions: As a precaution, if you use chlorella every day, take a vitamin B capsule at least once a week as some European studies showed that Chlorella may weaken Vitamin B supplies in the body. Some individuals have experienced stomach discomfort after using Chlorella. If you experience symptoms of stomach discomfort discontinue using immediately
